Solomon Islands Postcard From the Field

Charlie Veron and Emre Turak checking corals that they collected.

Other members of the team are focused on the status of marine resources used by Solomon Islanders such as trochus shell, giant clams and sea cucumbers.

Although early in the survey, already scientists are excited to see the very high diversity of both corals and fish indicating that the Solomon Islands are within the Coral Triangle – an area with the highest marine biodiversity on Earth.
